Adding a touch of holiday cheer to an office doesn’t have to mean going over the top. With a few well-chosen elements and a thoughtful approach, even a single shelf can feel festive, warm, and intentional — without distracting from the working day.

Start with a Base

Creating a clean foundation using a large binder clip — a simple, non-permanent solution ideal for office and rented spaces.

Every good display needs structure. A large clip binder works beautifully as a foundation for shelf styling. It creates a clear horizontal line and gives you something to layer onto. It’s especially useful in offices, where permanent fixings aren’t always practical.

Once secured, it becomes the anchor for the entire arrangement.

Add Glass Baubles for Light & Texture

Glass baubles are perfect for office styling because they reflect light and feel elegant rather than playful. Mixing finishes — ribbed, smooth, metallic, and frosted — adds depth while keeping the palette cohesive. Hang them at slightly varied heights for visual rhythm, using discreet ribbon or velvet ties.

Layer in Greenery

Greenery instantly brings life and softness to a space. I chose a mix of eucalyptus-style foliage and fine evergreen stems to create a natural, flowing line across the shelf. Allow some pieces to trail gently at the sides to avoid a rigid look. This adds movement and keeps the display relaxed. Greenery is also an excellent way to introduce seasonal colour without overpowering the room.

Finish with Velvet Bows and Berries

Deep red velvet bows and subtle berry accents add warmth, softness and a touch of understated luxury.

Premade velvet bows are one of the easiest ways to elevate a festive display. They add softness, warmth, and a subtle luxury feel, tying the whole look together. Deep red works beautifully against greenery and neutral walls, but softer tones can create a more understated effect.

The key is restraint. A few bows placed intentionally will always look more refined than too many.
